Women in Cellblock 9 (Frauen für Zellenblock 9 ; Jess Franco/ 1977 )ís the most superb W.I.P of the auteur Jess Franco ( Jesús Franco Manera )because of the cruelty of the plot and hardness of certain elements! The fragile beauty of young Susan Hemingway, the always perfect Karine Gambier, the solid presence of Howard Vernon and plus the amazingly and true end, makes the film an absolute masterpiece!

This would have been one of the last “Double Features” I saw. When I was a young kid movies always had a support film but that kinda died out in the 80′s. However this movie was twinned with ghoulies the cheap gremlins clone. I thought Night of the comet was better. Only saw it again recently. Good 80′s B fodder

Nice to see problems have been solved!
I’ve always believed that this film was originally based upon a tale of Clark Ashton Smith, “The Nameless Offspring”, in the line of Lovecraft. However, that’s not credited. It’s strange, because the plot is very very similar…
